Why it made our lists
Eight chunky wooden pieces that pair into four vehicles. Right for a baby nearing their first birthday who is starting to fit things together. Very simple, so it is a cheap gift with a short shelf life.
What it is
Eight chunky wooden pieces from Bigjigs Toys that pair up into four vehicles.
A first puzzle set for toddlers: four pictures of vehicles, a boat, an aeroplane, a car and a lorry, each cut into two chunky wooden halves. The child finds the matching halves and fits them together, which practises grip, matching and naming. With only two pieces per picture it suits very young children starting out with puzzles. The wood is sustainably sourced and the set meets European toy safety standards.
