Why it made our lists
For an Australian who wants a calm instrument to play by ear. Beginners can use the inner ten keys, and the case and tuning hammer are included. Metal tines are hard on thumbs for the first few days.
What it is
A 17-key bamboo kalimba with a watercolour finish; beginners can use the inner 10 keys. Includes a foamcore case, tuning hammer, cleaning cloth and key guide stickers.
A thumb piano with 17 metal tines on a bamboo body, played by plucking the tines with the thumbs. Beginners can stick to the middle ten, while the full 17 give a wider range. The tines are polished with rounded tips bent slightly down to be easier on the thumbs. It has a watercolour finish over the bamboo grain and comes with a padded case, tuning hammer, cloth and key stickers.
