Why it made our lists

  • Gifts for grandparents

A backlit large-print keyboard for a grandparent with weaker eyesight who types emails. It is wired, and the colour-coded shortcut keys can confuse someone who never uses Office shortcuts.

What it is

Wired USB keyboard with large-print white-on-black backlit key legends (5 brightness levels), scissor-switch keys and a built-in USB hub. PC and Mac versions.

A full-size keyboard with oversized white characters printed on black keys, aimed mainly at people with low vision. The keys are backlit with five brightness steps and use quiet scissor switches like a laptop. A USB 3.0 hub is built in for a mouse or flash drive, and some keys are colour coded for shortcuts in Office and Adobe programs. You choose a Windows or Mac layout when ordering.
