Why it made our lists
Gifts for a dad who has everythingOur top pick
A hand-sized pad that straps to a knee or shoulder and does heat, cold or both. For a dad who still plays rec hockey or golf and already owns the usual ice packs. It covers a small area at a time.
What it is
A hand-sized device that straps onto a knee, shoulder or elbow and delivers heat, cold or alternating contrast therapy. The battery lasts around two hours in hot or cold mode.
A palm-sized device with a metal contact face that cools, heats, or alternates between the two. It straps onto a knee, shoulder, elbow or other joint using a frame and one of two neoprene straps, so it can be worn hands-free during a session. It charges over USB-C. It is aimed at soreness and minor swelling after exercise rather than at deep tissue massage.
