Why it made our lists
A vertical stand that holds a closed MacBook beside a monitor and frees up desk space. Only useful if your boss runs a laptop with an external monitor, keyboard and mouse. Check before you buy.
Holds a closed MacBook upright on a desk next to a monitor, for someone who runs a laptop docked. White and Chrome fit this budget, Black does not. Useless without an external screen.
What it is
A vertical stand that holds a MacBook upright on the desk while it is connected to a monitor. The laptop's own weight draws the supporting arcs together, so it adjusts to MacBooks up to 1 inch thick without inserts. Colours: Black, White and Chrome.
An aluminium stand that holds a closed laptop upright on its edge, so the laptop can run an external monitor, keyboard and mouse while taking little desk space. The weight of the laptop pulls two arcs together to grip it, so different laptop sizes fit without inserts. To leave, unplug and lift the laptop out. The stand itself weighs about 0.24 kg.
