What it is

A rolling knife sharpener: a magnetic angle guide holds the knife while you roll the cylinder along it. Comes with a diamond sharpening disc and a smooth ceramic honing disc; a planetary gear turns the disc three times per roll. Weighs 1.2 kg.

A rolling knife sharpener. You set the knife against a magnetic block that holds a fixed angle, then roll a cylinder with abrasive discs back and forth along the edge. Inside the roller is a planetary gear, so the disc turns three times for each full turn of the body. It ships with a diamond disc for sharpening and a ceramic disc for honing and removing the burr. Finer corundum discs come in a separate accessory kit. It is pitched as an easier route than whetstones.

Worth knowing

Finer corundum discs are sold separately in an accessory kit, and it will not fix badly chipped edges.

Skip it if the knives need fine polishing, since the finer corundum discs are a separate purchase.
